Roseville City Manager Ray Kerridge announced Jan. 27, 2012 his selection of Marcus Reed as the city’s next Fire Chief. Chief Reed previously served as Division Chief of the highly regarded Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue District in Oregon.

More than 100 people applied for the position.  The top three candidates came to Roseville for additional interviews in November. Sixteen representatives from the community, the city, and fire service were divided into three panels that evaluated candidates on technical expertise, community relations and outreach, and media relations. Community members, staff, and business leaders were very impressed with Chief Reed during the interview process.
“Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue has a reputation on the West Coast for being the most progressive, creative fire districts in the country,” said City Manager Ray Kerridge.?“Chief Reed impressed our panels and has a strong track record of leadership and creativity.  I am looking forward to having him join our Roseville team.”
Reed, 53, has been serving at the chief officer level for the past 11 years and has 29 years of experience in the fire service. After graduating from Linfield College he entered the fire service where he worked his way through the ranks and was active in the IAFF at the local and state level. In 1991 he was elected Fire Commissioner at Clark County Fire District # 6 in Washington State where he served for twelve years. In 2010 he served on the State of Oregon Building Codes Division Advisory Committee for solar energy responsible for developing and implementing Oregon’s first statewide Solar Energy Building Code.

Chief Reed will start February 6, with a salary of $172,605.
