The news media and public are invited to the Roseville Police Department's semi-annual swearing-in and promotion ceremony at 2 p.m. Monday, February 9 at the Roseville High School Theater, 1 Tiger Way.

Mayor Carol Garcia, City Manager Ray Kerridge and Police Chief Daniel Hahn will officially welcome 38 people who have joined the Roseville Police Department over the past 18 months.  The group includes 15 police officers, 17 professional staff and six volunteers.

We'll also celebrate eight promotions, including Assistant Police Chief James Maccoun, Police Lieutenant Joshua Simon, Police Sergeants Phil Mancini, Mark Brazeal and Scott Blynn, Police Services Administrator Katie Braverman, Animal Control Supervisor John Bennett, and Crime Analyst Amanda Wardelman.

This is an exciting time for Roseville!  Emerging from the recession has allowed the City to hire and fill previously defunded positions.  This is the largest and most diverse group of employees we've ever welcomed en masse to the Roseville Police Department.    Here are a few random facts about our new employees:
  • Like the Roseville community, they hail from all over:  Belgium, Iran, Mexico, Colorado, Florida and all parts of California
  • One of the California natives taught English as a second language in Florence, Italy
  • One owned a racehorse previously owned by movie mogul George Lucas
  • Several of our new officers and professional staff came up through our Roseville Police Activities League recruiting and mentoring program.  They still work out with the group at WOD Wednesdays, and still volunteer at RPAL.
