Bring your class to the museum or bring the museum to your classroom for an experience your students will remember for years to come. School tours and Outreach programs are designed for Grades 3-6 and meet History and Social Science Content Standards section 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, 4.2 and 5.2 for the state of California. Combo tours are designed for our younger audiences, Preschool-Grade 2. Make sure you book several months in advance to get your preferred date(s). Museum Tour
Grades 3-6
Learn about Nisenan Maidu culture by participating in various activity stations and viewing California Indian artifacts and exhibits. Students will learn a Nisenan song with clapper sticks, play the traditional Stave game, make a beaded bracelet, and hear a native story. (1.5 hr)

Trail Tour
Grades 3-6
Learn about the Maidu relationship to the natural world and experience an ancient site. Students can view petroglyphs over 5,000 years old; hundreds of bedrock mortars; and many native plants and animals. Students will watch how to pound acorns, touch a prehistoric native plant and try ochre face painting. (1.5 hr)

Group Size
Each group should have no more than 35 participants, including teachers and chaperones. We can accommodate up to 3 groups per day.

Days & Times
Monday - Friday, 10:00am or 12:00pm
Lunch break 11:30am - 12:00pm. If students will be eating lunch on site, we provide a covered patio area and an indoor lunch area for rainy days.

Fees
$5.00 per person ($10.00 per person for both the trail and museum tours). Teachers are free. Due 30 days in advance.

Preschool-Grade 2

California Indian Life & Culture:
Grades 3-6
Outreach instructors will compare and contrast the cultural life ways of tribes in three regions of California and how their material cultures reflect the differing environments in which they lived. After the presentation, students can touch animal furs, explore native artifacts, pound acorns, create petroglyph rubbings and try clapper sticks.

Group Size
Each program should have no more than 35 participants, including teachers. We can accommodate up to 2 outreach programs per day.

Travel fee of $.75 per mile applies for all programs outside the City of Roseville. Fees are due 30 days in advance.
