Roseville Electric has had several cable failures in the past year, dropping our service reliability severely. After doing extensive analysis on the failed cable, we have found that these 12-kV bare-concentric cables, and those that have not yet failed, have reached the end of their operational life of 20 years.
This project is to begin a cable replacement program to replace all mainline bare-concentric 12-kV cables that are 20 years and older. This is an on going project until the year 2020 where all mainline bare-concentric 12-kV cables are replaced. Roseville Electric started to install jacketed XLPE tree-retardant or EPR 12-kV cables since 1998. These jacketed cables are expected to have an operational life of 40 plus years.
