Water Efficiency and Heating

  1. Fix leaks.
  2. Lower water heater temperature to 110-120°F; dishwashers may require 140°F setting.
  3. Install flow restrictors or aerators in lavatory faucet.
  4. Install timer on electric water heaters to turn off heating at night and over weekends.
  5. Verify that all pipes are insulated with a minimum of R4 insulation
