Water Distribution's  Mission

Water Distribution Division provides high quality water service to businesses and residents that reflects our community commitment towards water quality, customer service, teamwork and innovative approaches.

Infrastructure and Responsibility

Water truckThe Water Distribution division operates and maintains the City’s water transmission and distribution facilities and comprises several key functions under this division, including  construction, meter/backflow, water quality, preventative maintenance and field service.

These facilities include water mains, water storage tanks, pump stations, water wells, pressure reducing stations and inter-ties.

The water system consists of approximately 500 miles of water mains ranging in size from 4 to 66-inches in diameter, over 4,000 fire hydrants, 10,000 valves, 4,000 backflow devices and 45,000 service connections.  

Programs and Services

Water Construction – Water main taps, water service and backflow installations, water main installation, water main and service repairs, special projects.


Meter/Backflow – Meter and backflow testing, new construction inspection, and finance work orders.


Water Quality – Regulatory water sampling, well maintenance, ASR program, pump station maintenance, storage reservoirs and pressure reducing station maintenance.


Preventative maintenance – Hydrant flushing and maintenance, valve exercising, corrosion monitoring, creek crossing maintenance, air release valve maintenance.


Field Service – Underground Service Alert, Customer calls, excavation standby, Finance work orders.
