Home for the Holidays
Holidays are a time to bring family together for great meals, gifts and gatherings. This can add stress to our home, but it doesn’t have to. By following some simple tips, you can make this holiday season happier and more sustainable.
No one wants to drag bins overloaded with trash to the curb. Reusable wrapping can help reduce the amount of waste you create while gift giving. Reusable bags aren’t just for groceries. Take them with you every time you go shopping to reduce the amount of waste you’re bringing home. Remember— reusable bags make great gift bags, too!
Everyone loves decorating their homes with lights, but not the bills that come with it. LED light strands use an average of 80% less energy than traditional incandescent lights. Roseville Electric Utility customers can take advantage of our light exchange program to get up to three strands of brand new LED lights by trading in their old incandescent strands (while supplies last). Visit roseville.ca.us/holidaylights to find out more about this program.
All of our delicious holiday meals can lead to extra fats, oils and grease (FOG) in the kitchen. 65% of all sewer spills are related to FOG. Don’t get bogged down by sewer clogs while you have a house full of guests! Collect your FOG in a sealable, non-breakable container and dispose of it properly. Roseville residents can call 916-774-5780 to schedule convenient curbside pickup.
