Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance
The City of Roseville is currently in the process of updating our Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (WELO)(Click for more information) to be consistent with the State of California’s Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (MWELO). The State’s MWELO was adopted July 15, 2015. You can find more information on the State’s current water efficient landscape efforts on the Department of Water Resources’ website here: http://www.water.ca.gov/wateruseefficiency/landscapeordinance/ .
The State has asked local agencies to either adopt an Ordinance that is at least as effective as the State’s Ordinance, or adopt the Model Ordinance by December 1, 2015. The City has chosen to update our current ordinance to implement the required revisions. As of January 1, 2016, the City requires all new landscape projects including commercial, single family production homes and other projects that install landscaping, to comply with the new State Ordinance until such time that the Roseville City Council adopts a new City WELO.
