The City of Roseville Government Relations staff works collaboratively with the City’s internal and external partners to advance the City’s interests with federal, state, regional, and local government entities through advocacy, coalition-building, and public education. The effort supports legislative advocacy consistent with the City Council’s adopted priorities and legislative platform.
Lead state and federal agencies extended the public comment period for the Draft Bay Delta Conservation Plan (BDCP) and the Draft Environmental Impact Review/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS) by 60 days. The review period now totals 180 days stretching from Dec. 13, 2013 to June 13, 2014.
On Feb. 26th, the House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) released a discussion draft aimed at creating a simpler and fairer tax code for small business. The goal of Camp's latest draft is to spur greater job creation and higher wages for American workers by reducing the burden the tax code imposes on small business. The final count of bills on the City's list of priority legislation that were forwarded to the Governor for his consideration was 53 bills. The government relations team, the City’s state lobbyist and coalition partners worked to advocate on an assortment of these bills until the final week of the legislative session.
