Maidu Park grass fire update - June 22

The Roseville Fire Department remains on-scene at Maidu Regional Park after yesterday's 30 acre fire.  Today, 15 firefighters will be responding to any flareups which may occur and will continue to secure the area.   Tree crews from the Roseville Parks and Recreation Department are also on-scene to help lessen any further fire danger.

The Roseville Fire Department does not anticipate any problems today, however due to low humidity and north winds, there will naturally be more noticeable smoke coming from the burnt areas.  If residents become concerned by excessive smoke or see flareups, please call 911.  Plans are in place to call in additional resources if needed.

Roseville fire crews were at the park overnight and responded to a few flareups in heavy brush which were quickly extinguished.   The homes damaged by the fire are being secured today in anticipation of the incoming storms.

There is no new information on the investigation into the cause of the fire.  Fire investigators are on scene.  If anyone has information about the origin of this fire, please call 774-5000.

Activities at Maidu Park will go on today as planned.
