Caltrans ramp metering to begin at I-80 and Douglas Blvd.

Caltrans will activate ramp meters (stop and go lights) on both Douglas Boulevard on-ramps to westbound Interstate 80 beginning Monday, August 19. The ramp metering is necessary to relieve congestion and to allow for safe merging from the on-ramp to the highway.

The stop and go metering will operate during the peak commute times of 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. California Highway Patrol will likely be in the vicinity of the ramp to enforce the new meters.

A traffic study was completed to set the metering rate, which is expected to be similar to other meters within Roseville. For the first 2 to 3 days, Caltrans will have staff on site to monitor and adjust the ramp metering to ensure optimal operation.

Ramp metering throughout all of California is owned and operated by Caltrans. For more information, contact Deanna Shoopman, Caltrans Public Information Officer at (530) 741-4572.
