Roseville Transit accepts award for Game Day Express
Last Updated: 5/11/2017
Last week Roseville Transit, Sacramento Kings and other transportation partners were honored for collaborating on the smooth opening of downtown Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center. The teamwork eliminated the potential for traffic jams typical of a new arena or stadium opening in a downtown.
Honored by the Sacramento Area Council of Governments with a SACOG Salutes Special Recognition award was the City of Roseville - Roseville Transit, City of Sacramento, Sacramento Kings, Sacramento Regional Transit District, Yolo County Transportation District, Downtown Sacramento Partnership and the Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates.
Roseville Transit's Game Day Express has contributed to reducing traffic and improving air quality by saving more than 17,000 total vehicle miles on our roadways so far. That's 7 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions saved.
Through many hours of meetings, stakeholder engagement, mass communication, and planning, the Golden 1 Center opened with patrons arriving on foot, by bike, by transit and in cars. SACOG made this award because, "the regional infill project overcame numerous challenges, exemplifies mobility planning for all, and is a national example for sustainable planning."
