Are Voltage Vampires lurking in your home? Voltage Vampires are appliances that use energy  even when they are turned off or in standby mode. Unplugging this Phantom Energy can save energy and money!

To help residents identify Voltage Vampires while having some Halloween fun, Roseville Electric Utility is hosting Count Watts’ Spooktacular, a free family event held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 27 at the Roseville Utility Exploration Center, 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd.

Visitors to Spooktacular can meet Count Watts, the friendly energy-saving vampire, and take a thrilling walk through the Phantom Energy House to hunt down the Voltage Vampires inside. The event will feature a scavenger hunt, face painting, science experiments, games and prizes. Kids can take their treats home in a Count Watts trick-or-treat bag and are encouraged to come in costume for a spooky good time.

“Inactive video game consoles, computers, stereos and chargers can burn energy resources and drain cash from your budget,” says Brayden Mitchell, of the Roseville Utility Exploration Center. “You can stop those energy suckers by unplugging items when they’re not in use or by using smart power strips. We encourage our visitors to knock out energy waste while playing games at Spooktacular, then take that information home and knock it out there too!”

A Voltage Vampires temporary exhibit is currently on display at the Roseville Utility Exploration Center. For more information about Spooktacular, visit www.roseville.ca.us/familyfun or call (916) 746-1550.
