December 21, 2015—Roseville Acting City Manager Rob Jensen announced today the appointment of Dion Louthan as the city's next director of the Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department, effective Jan. 11.
The City of Roseville and Placer Valley Tourism are moving forward on plans to build a regional park with eight to 12 multi-use fields to strengthen Placer County’s draw as a major sports and recreation destination.
The Regional Sports Complex, located along the western edge of the Roseville city limits, will serve youth and amateur soccer, lacrosse, football, rugby and various other long field-specific sports teams.
In time for event season, visitors to the area around the Vernon Street Town Square in Downtown Roseville will now be able to connect to the internet via a free wireless network thanks to a partnership between the City of Roseville and Consolidated Communications. The free Wi-Fi service is available along Vernon Street between Taylor Street and Lincoln Street.
The Vernon Street Town Square has attracted more than 100,000 visitors since it opened in August 2013, hosting a variety of events including concerts, festivals, farmers markets, wine tastings, yoga classes and children's story time.
Field information and updates will be posted Monday-Friday at 3pm. If a field is marked "reinspect" the field must be evaluated by the user group at practice or game time for playability. The user group must use the playability criteria outlined in the Inclement Weather Policy when making a determination.
