Only about 7 percent of Roseville lies within a flood hazard area. Most of this property is zoned Open Space and flooding is expected, but there are some areas that flooding would result in damage to properties. The City of Roseville has installed numerous stream and rain gauges to monitor the flood threat. These stations are placed at strategic locations throughout the drainage basin. Roseville’s current standards would not allow new building to be built within the Flood Hazard areas, but some existing buildings are prone to flooding and damage will occur if flooded. These areas are primarily along Dry, Linda, and Cirby Creeks in the older parts of the City and are best reviewed on the Central Roseville Gauges map. This map is the best display of creek levels in the City of Roseville’s most threatened areas. It will be easier to understand the nature of the flood threat by using this map. Two other maps are displayed. The North Roseville Stream Gauges and Regional Stream Gauges. These three maps cover all the stream and rain gauges used to determine the flood threat to the Roseville area. A flood warning system has been implemented by the City of Roseville for areas which are within or adjacent to the Flood Hazard areas. In the event flooding may threaten theses areas, warnings will be broadcast on Roseville's Government Access COR-TV Channels 14/73. If a power outage occurs, tune your battery-operated radio to 530AM or other local radio stations for information about the City of Roseville. For more details about how the City’s flood warning system operates, visit; Flood Warning Response and Notification Roseville's flood warning system is designed to provide residents with up to a three hour advance warning of flooding within the city’s Flood Hazard areas. However, flooding can occur quickly and without much prior warning. You should follow the instructions and warnings as they are given, rather than delaying to see if flooding actually occurs.
