About the Utility Exploration Center
The Roseville Utility Exploration Center works with our partners to promote education to students, residents and businesses of Roseville and surrounding communities about energy and water conservation, storm water quality and waste reduction to ensure the long-term quality of life, health and well-being of our community.

Created out of the City's belief that sustainability is a principle to live by, we are a one-of-a-kind environmental learning center focused on bringing visitors information on protecting natural resources in a fun, engaging way. Topics covered include energy efficiency, renewable technology, water conservation and recycling.

The Exploration Center is housed within the Martha Riley Library building, which was awarded Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. It is the first building in Placer County to be so honored.

The Roseville Utility Exploration Center building is located at 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd. (Map / Get Directions), next to the Roseville Sports Center in Mahany Park. Our normal hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Saturday.

Free Exhibit Hall
The Center currently features six major exhibits within the 3,200 square-foot gallery space and a separate 800 square-foot Learning Lab suitable for class field trip experiments, speakers, demonstrations, workshops and other group activities. The current exhibits are made up of permanent displays designed so that they can be refreshed to include new content. The gallery area also provides space for rotating temporary displays.

Our exhibit hall will be closing temporarily in 2018 for an update that will include new exhibits in a redesigned space. The expansion also includes an outdoor extension called the Ideascape, featuring exhibits highlighting water-wise landscaping, irrigation and construction innovations, solar energy and watershed protection.

Our Partners
The messages delivered through the exhibits and programs at the Utility Exploration Center are part of the efforts of Roseville Electric Utility and Environmental Utilities to encourage recycling, water conservation and other smart energy choices. The Center is the first of its kind on the West Coast and is dedicated to its mission to educate Roseville schoolchildren, our community and the region about the benefits and feasibility of using renewable and recycled resources, advanced technologies, and sustainable building and landscaping designs to inspire and motivate efficiency in everyday life.
