|At 3:41 p.m. April 30, Roseville Police and Roseville Fire Department personnel responded to a multi-vehicle crash on eastbound Pleasant Grove Boulevard just west of Roseville Parkway.|
Witnesses reported that a blue 2007 Honda Pilot was being driven in an erratic manner from Washington Boulevard onto eastbound Pleasant Grove, where it collided with a 2004 Saturn Vue SUV that was stopped at the back of a line of vehicles at the red light at Roseville Parkway. That set off a chain-reaction collision involving a total of six vehicles.
The front-seat passenger in the Saturn Vue, Robert Alan Weaver, age 69 of Roseville, was taken to the hospital, where he died. His wife, the driver of the Saturn, remains hospitalized in serious condition. Another driver was transported to the hospital with a complaint of pain, and a passenger in another vehicle had pain but did not require ambulance transport.
The driver of the Honda Pilot, a 45-year-old woman from Lincoln, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of drugs. She was booked into the Placer County Jail and has since been released after posting a $250,000 bail bond.
The eastbound lanes of Pleasant Grove Boulevard in the vicinity of the collision were closed for almost six hours while investigators examined the scene.
The collision is being investigated by the Roseville Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Unit.
