Roseville, CA-Monday,October 7. Two structure fires kept firefighters busy.

At 10:31 a.m. the Roseville Fire Department responded to a report of an apartment building fire in the 1400 block of Kingswood Drive at the Autumn Oaks Apartment complex. Fire crews arrived to find smoke showing from a multi-family apartment building with all of the occupants safely outside. The apartment had working smoke detectors that alerted the occupants of the fire. The first crew on-scene was able to bring the fire under control keeping the flames from spreading throughout the residence and into other units of the apartment building.

Multiple crews reported to the scene. A total of ten fire units with twenty-eight personnel responded. Assistance was also provided by American Medical Response. The fire was extinguished quickly and isolated to the unit or origin. The habitability of the apartment unit is unknown.

At 2:34 p.m. Roseville Fire responded to another structure fire in the 700 block of Atlantic Street at the Roseville Meat Company. Fire crews arrived to find smoke showing from the rear of the building with employees attempting to extinguish the fire. The business was evacuated and crews quickly went to work putting out the fire. The fire was extinguished quickly but smoke was still coming from the roof of the business so crews had to dismantle parts of the structure to ensure the fire was completely out.

Multiple crews reported to the scene. A total of seven fire units with eighteen personnel responded. Assistance was also provided by American Medical Response. The fire was extinguished quickly and isolated to the rear of the business.  It's unknown when the business will reopen.

In both cases, there were no civilian or firefighter injuries. The causes of the fires are under investigation.  These unfortunate incidents should act as a reminder to everyone to have properly working smoke detectors. Smoke detectors are the best warning system that can alert your business or family to dangerous smoke and fire.
