Contact :Vonette McCauley, Electric Public Relations Manager, Roseville Electric    916.774.5625
Roseville is home to one of the nation’s largest solar communities, and to celebrate, Roseville Electric has teamed up with the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) to host a self-guided solar tour of Roseville.

The tour will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 6, 2007.  Having recently been retrofitted with photovoltaic solar panels in 2006, the Roseville Civic Center, 311 Vernon Street will serve as an appropriate launching station for the tour.

Tour participants will visit a variety of homes, businesses, and city owned facilities learning about passive solar and solar powered designs including photovoltaic (PV) and hot water heating systems.

An informational class discussing solar technologies will be hosted by Roseville Electric’s Energy Specialist Patrick Morrison from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Roseville Civic Center prior to the start of the tour.

The self-guided tour format will allow participants to move at their own pace, providing the opportunity to discuss the systems with home and business owners.  An informational brochure including a map will be distributed to every participant, highlighting interesting facts and statistics about each location.  Bike maps will also be provided for those interested in cycling the tour.

The Solar Tour is FREE to the public and geared toward those interested in learning more about solar technologies in Roseville.  The tour will also feature information for Roseville Electric customers interested in retrofitting their homes with solar and the generous rebates Roseville Electric offers as part of the Photovoltaic (PV) Buy-Down Program.
