Baby "Rosie" laid to rest

September 18, 2013--"Rosie," the newborn baby girl whose body was found in Saugstad Park in early July, was laid to rest under sunny skies in Auburn this morning.  Senior Chaplain Jim Milne of the Placer County Law Enforcement Chaplaincy led a brief service, which was attended by Roseville Police detectives and other city staff, Placer County's senior coroner, Roseville City Councilmember Pauline Roccucci, and several members of the Roseville community who came to pay their respects.

We still don't know who this little girl is, or who her parents are.  On July 8, Roseville parks maintenance workers found a diaper box hidden in some bushes in Saugstad Park.  Inside the box, carefully wrapped in a blanket, was the body of a newborn baby girl, with her umbilical cord still attached.  The cause of her death is still unknown, pending final autopsy results.  She may have been stillborn.  Anyone with any information about her and the circumstances of her birth is asked to call the Roseville Police Department at (916)774-5000, or Roseville Crime Stoppers at (916)783-STOP.  Callers can remain anonymous.
