Celebrate National Library Week with our Bookmark Design Contest and Character Storytimes

Updated February 28, 2024
Celebrate National Library Week!

The theme for National Library Week 2024, “Ready, Set, Library!”, promotes the idea that in our always-online world, libraries give us a green light to something truly special: a place to connect with others, learn new skills, and focus on what matters most.

No matter where you find yourself on the roadmap through life’s journey—preparing for a new career, launching a business, or raising a family—your library provides an inclusive and supportive community where everyone belongs.

Get ready to explore, become inspired, and connect with your library this National Library Week. Libraries are there for you, all the way to the finish line.

Bookmark Design Contest

In honor of National Library Week, the Roseville Public Library is hosting our second Bookmark Design contest! This is an opportunity for our community to share their stories.

Pick up a bookmark template from any of our three locations starting March 1, 2024. Get creative and design your own original bookmark using this year’s theme: “Read, Set, Library!”. You may interpret this however you wish. Bookmarks will be judged in age group categories (5-8, 9-12, Teen, and Adult). Winning bookmarks in each category will be mass produced and provided to library patrons while supplies last.

To participate, the following guidelines and rules apply:
Pick up a blank bookmark template at any of our three Roseville Public Library locations Saturday, March 1st - Saturday, March 30.
Submit your finished bookmark to any of our three Roseville Public Library locations during National Library Week, Monday, April 8 – Saturday, April 13. No late submission will be accepted.
One submission allowed per person.
Information on the back of the bookmark template must be completed.
Design must be completed on the bookmark template space provided by the library. Designs not using the library’s bookmark template will not be entered into the contest.
Must be your original work.
You may only use 2D art forms, such as: drawings, paintings, print, photographs, etc. Work that has 3D items will not be entered into the contest.
Do not include copyrighted images.
Do not include any personal information on the front of the bookmark (name, age, etc.).  Submissions containing personal information on the design will not be entered into the contest.
All participants designs will be displayed at the branch you submitted your work for the month of May.
All submissions become the property of the City of Roseville.
Roseville Public Library employees and family members may participate but will not be entered into the contest.
