1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless.

Start a reading routine with your baby, toddler, or preschooler to help them develop school readiness skills. We'll help you stay on track by setting milestones and incentives on your child's path to reading 1000 books before kindergarten.

Simply color in, check off, or add a star sticker to the reading log each time you read a book with your child. When all the stars have been filled in, return your completed logs to the library and collect fun rewards.

Visit the Roseville Public Library to get started today. Click here for more information.

Each table will have yellow and brown tissue paper squares, sunflower templates, and glue sticks. Kids can crinkle the tissue paper and glue it onto the petals and center to create a beautiful, textured 3D sunflower.

How does this support early literacy?
This hands-on activity encourages children to follow directions, build vocabulary, and talk about colors and nature. It also develops fine motor skills essential for writing as they pinch and glue the tissue paper.
