A library card for every 3rd grader

Updated August 20, 2020

Students who don't read proficiently by the 3rd grade are 4 times likelier to drop out of school. The Roseville Public Library is partnering with local educators to reach 1,000 3rd graders before summer to offer them their own library cards.

A library card is an instrumental school supply and studies show that students with library cards perform better in school. Our librarians work with reluctant readers to find books that suit their interests and skill level so that everyone can enjoy reading. Reading for fun encourages creativity and problem-solving skills that are necessary for school and beyond. Card holders have access to an expansive collection of books, DVDs, music and online resources for free.

The Roseville Public Library continues to play an essential role in the education of our community. This outreach is made possible by the support of the Roseville Friends of the Library.
