City of Roseville employees presented a ceremonial check for nearly $70,000 to the City Council on behalf of the
Roseville Employees Annual Charitable Hearts (REACH) annual employee-giving campaign at the July 10, 2019 Council meeting.
Co-chairs Suzanne Engelke with Public Works and Lea Estrada with Development Services presented the checks, along with REACH committee representatives from throughout the City.
More than two dozen non-profits received donations through REACH. The five charities receiving the largest donations were Shriners Hospital, SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), Make-a-Wish Foundation, Placer County Food Bank, and the American Cancer Society.
Since REACH’s inception in 2003, City employees have provided over $1.8 million to local nonprofits. Every donated penny has gone directly to the recipients of those services.
“Our community groups greatly value the support they receive from city employees’ voluntary contributions,” said Engelke. “It’s heartwarming to see the difference we make helping these worthy charities carry out their mission.”
In addition to monetary donations, the REACH committee raises money and donates time and resources in other ways throughout the year. These opportunities are designed to be “hands-on” and range from giving blood, playing softball, cleaning a creek, to other volunteer events where employees volunteer during off-duty time.
