Best for ages 5 & under. Explore the wonders of reading with books, puppets, rhyme and songs! Regular Storytime sessions are offered at the following times:

Registration is required for all Storytime sessions at Riley Library. Please register in advance to guarantee your spot. Weekly Storytime registration opens each Monday at 8:00am.

Note: Before you register on ACTIVENet, you will need to set up a personal account and add each of your children as Family Members. Once your account is set up, you will have easy access to browse and register for other City of Roseville youth programs in the future. Follow the steps below to get started or call us at 916-774-5221 for assistance.

  1. Click on the "Create an account" button in the top right corner of the page.
  2. Enter your e-mail address and click "Next".
  3. Fill in the information (parents--start with yourself first), create password and click "Next".
  4. Complete the remaining information and click "Submit".
  5. You should receive a confirmation e-mail. Follow the link in the email to verify and activate your account.
To add family members:
  1. Login to your account.
  2. Click on "Manage Family Member" on bottom right corner.
  3. Click on "Add Family Member" in middle grey bar.
  4. Complete the information and click "Submit".

Click the "Activities" button at the top of the page and search for "Storytime" to see upcoming dates.

Baby Lapsit Storytime

Baby Lapsit Storytime includes books, songs, rhymes, bounces and playtime for babies 0-24 months and their caregivers. Older siblings are welcome and are encouraged to bring a doll or stuffed animal to use as their "baby". We'll introduce caregivers to new activities to do with their children and model how to cater to key early childhood development.

ASL Storytime 

Do you have a deaf, hard of hearing, or signing child? Experience stories in American Sign Language and speech play to promote bonding and encourage language development in two modalities.

*ASL Storytime will be on summer break from June 19 - August 7. Sessions will return Wednesday, August 14.

Storytime at the Fountains

Join us for Storytime at the Fountains at Roseville. Storytime is included as part of the Fountain's Tot Time program. Sessions take place the first and third Tuesday of the month through October.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless.

Start a reading routine with your baby, toddler, or preschooler to help them develop school readiness skills. We'll help you stay on track by setting milestones and incentives on your child's path to reading 1000 books before kindergarten.

Simply color in, check off, or add a star sticker to the reading log each time you read a book with your child. When all the stars have been filled in, return your completed logs to the library and collect fun rewards.

Fiero Code Club

Code at home for a chance to win prizes in our Fiero Code Club!

To participate, pick up a Fiero Code Club Log at any Roseville Public Library location. Use your log to track your minutes spent coding online. Once your log is complete, bring it to the front desk to be entered into our seasonal prize drawing! This season's prize is a Geek Basket! Contest begins June 1 and ends August 31.

Fiero Code Hackathon

Compete in Fiero's International Hackathon!

Hackathons are contests run by the Fiero Code team. They are open to people all over the world. Fiero Code host three hackathons per calendar year, free to library patrons. 

Fiero's summer contest is called "Adventures in the Multiverse" and the theme is Choose Your Own Adventure. Contest begins June 1 and ends July 31.

Participate for a chance to win code-able robots and toys! Access the Hackaton by logging into Fiero at app.fierocode.com and click "Challenge".

Summer Blizzards

There's some crazy weather out at Maidu and we're celebrating with a spontaneous snowball fight. Stop by the Maidu Covered Soccer Arena for a morning of unexpected and unseasonable shenanigans. Snowballs are made of cloth and stuffed. Ages 2-12. Parent participation required.

Midsummer Show featuring NorCal Bats

Keep the Summer Reading Challenge vibes up with a Midsummer Show! We'll be going batty at the Maidu Community Center for NorCal Bats. One of the most exciting conservation organizations in Northern California, NorCal Bats puts on an amazing evening show featuring the world's only flying mammal. Free, drop in. This event is open to readers of all ages.

Create! Crafts at the Library: Tiny Art Contest

Our next Create! Crafts at the Library activity for the month of June is our Tiny Art Contest!

Pick up your 4”x 4” paper canvas at any of our library locations beginning Saturday, June 1. Fill out the back of your canvas by selecting your age category (0-5, 6-12 and teen/adult), listing your contact information and the title of your piece. All art mediums are welcome! Submissions are due Saturday, June 29.

One entry per person. Winners will be announced the first week of July. Each library will have a winner in all 3 categories and each winner will receive an age appropriate set of art markers! Art pieces will be publicly displayed in the libraries during the month of June and will be judged by a member of the Friends of the Roseville Public Library along with library staff.

Create! Crafts at the Library: LEGO® Contest

For July's Create! Crafts at the Library activity, we're hosting a LEGO® Contest!

Build an original LEGO® creation at the library or at home. Take a picture and email it to 
[email protected] along with the entrant's name and age.

Top 5 entries in each age category (0-5, 6-12, Teen/Adult) will be posted on social media and voted on by the public. One winner from each category, along with one Staff Favorite, will win a LEGO® set!

Conversation Club

Join Conversation Club!

Conversation Club is a free, drop-in program for adult English language learners looking to practice conversational English through casual group discussion.

Teen Advisory Board (TAB)

The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a new leadership opportunity for Roseville teens. Make a positive difference in our local community by sharing your input on how the library can best serve teens.

Earn volunteer credit and/or community service hours by attending the monthly TAB meeting with our Librarian. Help plan new programs, recommend books and DVDs for purchase, judge contests, sponsor library events, and more!

Want to learn more about a particular computer program or learn how to use eBooks and Audiobooks? Our one-on-one Tech Help offers an opportunity to get answers to your computer and technology questions.

Drop in for Tech Help from 10:00am to 12:00pm on the first Friday of each month at Riley Library.

The library has desktop computers that are available for demonstration, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own devices. 

Please note, help is available on a first come first serve basis. The library will not attempt to troubleshoot computer problems or repair damaged devices.
