Storm Drain

Adding storm drain capacity

To help improve drainage, updates began in August 2019 for the Hillcrest neighborhood’s storm drain system. The network was more than 60 years old and didn't meet today’s needs.

Damaged sections of curbs and gutters were replaced throughout the neighborhood. Curb ramps were also installed where sidewalks are present.

These approximately $3 million upgrades were funded by the gas tax you pay at the pump. No City General Fund money is contributing to the project.

Construction schedule

Work began in August 2019 and concluded in early 2020.

Construction hours: weekdays, approximately 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Please remember to travel with care through the construction zones and watch for work crews.

Resurfacing streets

After drainage improvements are completed, neighborhood roadways are planned for repair and resurfacing. View more information.

If you will be affected by construction, you'll receive a postcard in the mail alerting you to the upcoming work. Additionally, at least 48 hours before the start of construction, you'll receive a flier at your doorstep.

As part of this project, you might experience temporary interruptions to your water service.  We will notify you in advance of any necessary shut-offs.

Throughout the project, be sure to watch for signs. “No Parking” signs may be temporarily placed on your street while construction is in progress. All residences, schools, churches, parks, and businesses will continue to be accessible. Emergency responders will continue to have access to the neighborhood.
