For teens looking to build leadership skills, gain hands-on job experience, and make a positive impact in their community, the City of Roseville’s Leadership Development Program (LDP) offers a unique and rewarding opportunity.
Open to youth ages 13 and up, LDP introduces participants to the world of Parks, Recreation & Libraries through a blend of professional training and practical experience. It’s designed for those ready to take on responsibility, work with others and grow into confident leaders—both now and in the future.
Beginning in June, selected candidates receive leadership and job-readiness training before stepping into supportive roles across the City’s summer camps, youth programs, and classes. It’s an immersive program that allows participants to contribute meaningfully while gaining insight into how city services operate. Application deadline is May 9.
Program Highlights
Participants selected for LDP will receive:
-
10 hours of leadership and job readiness training
-
Up to 50 hours of supervised, hands-on experience supporting summer programs
-
A chance to work with experienced staff and mentors
-
An official LDP T-shirt and name tag to wear while on duty
-
Exposure to teamwork, communication, problem-solving and real-world responsibility
The goal is to help teens develop the skills and confidence that will serve them well in future jobs, leadership positions or community involvement. Many participants walk away with a stronger sense of direction—and even letters of recommendation to support future opportunities.
