Work to remove several asphalt streets and replace them with a concrete surface began mid-May. This new material is called roller compacted concrete and will be installed on the following streets. Please monitor roadside electronic message boards for updated information about any lane closures or detours. Typical work hours are Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Atkinson Street, from Church Street to Denio Loop
Construction activity began mid-May, with minor delays expected and intermittent lane closures and detours. Roadway reconstruction is expected to begin in late June and last into fall.
• Denio Loop
Minor construction activities began mid-May. Minimal traffic impacts are expected. Roadway reconstruction is expected to begin in late June.
• Washington Boulevard, from Pleasant Grove to just north of Mountain Park Drive
Construction activities will begin mid-June after the nearby schools break for the summer. Roadway reconstruction is expected to last into fall.
• Hickory Street, from Church to Oakland
Minor construction activities began in May. Roadway reconstruction is expected to occur in August.
Benefits
Roller compacted concrete is new to most of California, but it has been successfully used for years in states like Texas and Kansas. It’s a durable road surface which can last 20–25 years without maintenance, while typical asphalt requires resurfacing every 7–10 years. The installation of roller compacted concrete cost about 20% less than asphalt. By using concrete instead of asphalt, we can better use our limited funding to repair more Roseville streets. This lighter colored surface also means cooler roads during the day and brighter roads at night.
