Roseville set to welcome UP's famed 'Big Boy No. 4014'

Big Boy No. 4014, the world’s largest steam locomotive, will be on display for public viewing in Roseville July 12-13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as part of Union Pacific’s “Big Boy Westward Bound” tour, which will honor Union Pacific’s rich railroad legacy and celebrate the railroad’s employees and communities it serves.

On Saturday, the City will be offering additional activities at the Vernon Street Town Square between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., including:

  • Live music from Sac-City Little Big Band
  • Food trucks
  • Old West performances from the Black Flag Gang
  • Vernon Street Town Square Spray Ground
  • Maker’s market with vendors and kids zone

Get a taste of entrepreneurship at the City's Roseville Venture Lab open house. Stop by between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, July 12 for a diverse offering of savory appetizers and bite-sized sweets, presented by local culinary entrepreneurs. 

Additionally, the Carnegie Museum in Old Town Roseville will be open with an exhibit featuring the history of the Big Boy and a kids railroad activity. The Roseville Roundhouse Model Railroad Association will also be hosting an open house on Friday. You can find Downtown Roseville merchants offering specials here as well.
